AMERSHAM - CHILTERNS

This garden was designed for a client who wanted capture a sense of space and stillness. The views from the large picture windows were incredibly important, as was plenty of space to entertain their friends and family.

We situated the main entertaining space at the rear of the garden as this is the spot that catches the evening sun, which is when the client uses the garden the most. To reach the main terrace you cross the reflection rill via a floating bridge.

Feature walls unify the boundaries and introduce surfaces that capture the delicate shadows being cast by the specimen trees. The walls also provide beautiful backdrops for the different areas of the garden therefore helping to zone the garden without closing spaces off.

The long reflection rill spans across the width of the garden linking the lower and upper sections of the garden. The rill was a key solution to the clients brief and is a dramatic feature that sets this garden apart.
