THE MODERN FARMHOUSE

For this project the client wanted the garden space to reflect their newly renovated home by blending modern and timeless garden design principles. The interiors are relaxed, country minimalism. We took inspiration from their use of warm, natural materials and soft heritage colour combinations to create an inviting and calming outdoor space.

A simple materials palette, large cushions of evergreen domes and an airy contemporary planting scheme help create an effortless outdoor space for all their family to enjoy.

We have suggested a beautiful handmade clay paver in a stretcher bond to create four oversized square pads to centre both the seating and dining areas. These pavers will develop an aged patina overtime and are perfectly suited to the clients requirements.

Soft gravel paths link the two main entertaining zones.

Well placed multi stemmed trees, large topiary domes and airy perennial plants create interesting borders full of structure.

The multi stemmed trees are integral to the design and provide seasonal interest, height and light screening within the garden. They frame views within the garden whilst interrupting the views of neighbouring properties.

The client wanted to separate the dining and seating areas so they could use the garden at different times of the day depending on the position of the sun.

To create a journey through the garden and to promote a sense of flow we created primary and secondary routes to connect the two main entertaining areas.
